Rob Kaplain is a Co-Founder and Principal of K2 Real Estate Capital, overseeing day-to-day operations of its investments, management of K2 and all legal aspects of the company.  Prior to co-founding K2, Rob was a real estate associate and senior associate at the law firms of Paul Hastings and Willkie Farr & Gallagher, respectively.  He was also an Associate General Counsel for a large, publicly traded REIT. Rob has handled more than $1.0 billion of real estate transactions nationwide across a wide range of asset classes, and has represented sponsors, developers, private equity funds and other institutional investors in structuring real estate transactions and in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing, and disposition of real estate assets.  Rob holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.  He is also a member of the New York State Bar.

Mitch Kaplain is a Co-Founder and Principal of K2 Real Estate Capital, overseeing all investments, day-to-day operations of its investments, and capital market functions. Prior to co-founding K2, Mitch held acquisition, asset management, and capital markets positions at Imperial / Dreamscape Companies, a New York City based institutionally backed sponsor where he was directly involved in the acquisition of over $500 million of real estate across the Southeast, United States. Prior to joining Imperial / Dreamscape Companies, Mitch was responsible for acquisitions, asset management, and capital markets at Stellar Management, one of New York City’s largest privately owned landlords, where he was involved in recapitalizing over $2.0 billion of the company’s portfolio. Prior to his time at Stellar, Mitch worked as an investment banker at Stifel Financial, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions and capital raising. Mitch holds a B.S. in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
